So, you're trading a range - no prob with that. But, overall how much in profit are you? What you are doing is a simple gamble, no different to the horse but you believe you know the odds better.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostI use the IG Index PureDeal platform, trading on Jan-10 Brent Crude.
If the price gets close to $80 a barrel (give or take) I get an SMS. If the price turns down from there, I put a sell on at 4 or 5 £ a point, with a stop loss just above $80. I take profits when the price falls quickly and make £300 or £400.
I do the same but a buy at around $75 ish dollars.
The key is to see that when it hits my alerts, the price turns away before making the bet and putting the stop loss just outside that range.
What's the small print on the stop? If something cataclysmic happens will your stop still take affect - is there an assumption it will slide towards it and you can close?
You've also got to absorb the spread so the index can make it's margin whatever happens, but surely the big potential downside rests on you not them.
You may be the one in eight that somehow has the knack, but at some time with wrong timing and awkward events you will make up the other sevens losses.Comment

One needs to have prawns' brains to play this game.
It's basically red/black casino, with the only exception that if you get real shade of black then you can lose a lot more than you bet.Comment

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...l-fortune.html
Desire Petrolium have a rig being towed out, for arrival in Feb. A few other companies are also having a go.
Falklands Oil & Gas is sid to be worth £75 a share on successful drilling of it's Loligo field (one of many)Comment
