Anyone else suffering from this in the banks or elsewhere ?
I've been asked this 4 times in the last year by the PM and
it's starting to annoy me...
Standard reply is "Yeah, no problem, I'll stay as long as you want, but at my current rate, plus a golden hello of 10 times my weekly rate, 500K in my pension fund, hot and cold running whores and a new set of tyres every six months for my company Lambo"...

...aha looks like "HR" are trying to reduce "personnel costs".
You just have to hope your PM wins the power struggle, otherwise you'll be given "an offer you can easily refuse".
This power struggle breaks out when contractor and permies end up in the same HR budget, and fixed costs get dumped on the "internal" contractor rates.
I've beed asked every 3 months during the 2 years I;ve been here....also been told yet again that there is no way they will extend the contract this time. (which would mean the PM leaving just as we get into the testing phase) - doubt it! Like they guys say up there - tell them you'll go Permie but the package has to match. No chance of them coughing up.
OOoooooh, scratch your eyes out, both of you. Nothing like hitting a man when he's down.
On the job front, nothing as yet. December is dead and I hope things will be better in Jan when companies can start spending again. Mme Fleetwood is working now, and I do the odd couple of days work here and there, for the SMIC (€8.03 an hour).
