That had me confused for a moment. "How does he know that?" What a wally I am.

I did. And the other one (by auto-forwarded email). I decided that if someone cares to try that hard, I don't mind. But I will probably do something about it in due course; probably when (if?) TPD is reincarnated / resurrected.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

23 May 2007. It's still running - got through its MoT two weeks ago, and reached 173,000 miles on the way home on Friday

Mostly agree with you, but this isn't true. The sad thing is, poor working-class streets are the only place children do still play in the street on bikes or with a ball. Only problem is they then kick the ball at your house

Only joking, my car also has 170K+ miles on it and still runs daily.

Although its had 3 new bodies, and 5 new engines.

                  (Trigger)

I fear it will not get its next MOT though, and I am running into the ground until this time.

I used to live on a busy road that ran between Brighton and Hove and Friday night was the worst. People under the influence of all ages. Wing mirrors etc etc. Bloody annoying when I could least afford to fix things.

I even witness it being done by someone who I regarded as a friend. We had attended a party and he, and others, were a little worse for wear. As he passed a moped, he smashed the indicators. One of the incidents that chipped away at my regarding their company worth the time.

The Scouts and Boys Brigade and the like are always slagged off by the media so they are made to seem unattractive. Add to that the 'paedo' branding their volunteers get and hence there is a shortage of volunteers. I suspect the independent and council-run youth clubs have gone the same way.

                      snip

Councils have been cutting back and selling off parks and playgrounds for years.

Waste ground and building sites used to be good for mucking about on but they are now fenced off.

Agree. I went to youth clubs to learn photography and pottery aged about 11 and then air cadets aged 13 - 16 before discovering cash, booze and ladies. The old cadet hut looks pretty neglected these days.

When ever I go back to visit my mum there's never any kids playing football on the green.

There's not even a dangerously erected skateboard ramp made with wood nicked from a local building site.

Don't know what the kids do all day now.
