Traffic is a nightmare every Christmas, with everyone struggling to get to the Metro Centre.

    Lots of friendly people.

Some nice spots in Gateshead (Low Fell, almost bought a house there) and of course some terrible ones e.g. Bensham. I've never lived south of the river but have plenty of friends there who like it. The North East is a long way from other parts of the country obviously (a good thing in some respects, bad in others), depends on where your friends/family as to whether it would work for you. Traffic is very reasonable compared to most other urban areas I've experienced in the UK.

Cons: Its full of Chavs, you might get your head kicked in.
Pros (for me): Its full of Chavs, you might get your head kicked in.

              you must be desperate....

Remember to take some plastic bags so you can stick your head in if it gets really bad.

No, but you might want to visit occasionally and flights from an airport near home are more convenient than not

Anyway - Ryanair fly NCL to DUB
