Absolutely. With bells on.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostI think it's because when people step up, and make a sacrifice, show courage, and live through horrors we cant imagine, and their motive is to benefit their decendants, we sort of show a bit of gratitude and respect.
Some of the stories of self sacrifice would make a brave man blanche.
I doff my hat to you sir

Forced ???Originally posted by Diestl View PostFTFY
There was one on the radio recently.
A Cornish sapper and his four mates were buried alive, when their mine was undermined by the Germans in Flanders.
Their mates got an air line to them and four days later they had opened a hole big enough for them to wriggle to safety.
except the fourth guy had broken ribs and couldnt make it. So his mate volunteered to stay with him, so he wouldnt die alone in the dark.
The two bodies are still out there, somewhere.

Dammit, my head says Diestl is right logically, my heart says otherwise.
Interestingly the Germans don't have a Remembrance day - they have just suffered so much through war that they just realise its tulip and want to forget it forever.
I have a feeling Remembrance Day is used by the establishment in this country to make war a heroic and aspirational thing, which is the exact opposite of what it should be.Hard Brexit now!
