Apparently (according to Old Holborn) the article has been pulled. So much for free speech. All the more reason to sent it to everyone. Just putting it on my Facebook now.

Part of me wonders if it really was on the times site, can anyone confirm that it was? There have been plenty of whooshes of this style going about forums.

It wasn't so much an open-door policy with IT, but revolving-door. NL have had a special soft-spot for IT and contractors. Would this have happened under the Tories?

While he may have a point on the general theme, stuff like "you need 17 forms to get a greenhouse in France" does not really make his article have any value. He has clearly never been in France and tried to get a greenhouse. If he engaged in fact then he might sound more than a fairly clever chap having a rant down the back of his pub after too many brews. With that in mind the article serves no purpose and I am surprised the Sunday Times let that stuff through. I have to agree with sas on this one.

You miss the point - it's not about what he said, it's about his right to say it.

He can say it all he wants, I said that I am surprised the STs printed it, they still have a choice over what they get printed.

I did not see many of you get on at the admins when cyberman said "all scots should be put down at birth" not that I could have cared less he wanted me dead at birth really. but if you were that bothered about Clarkson's right you all should have had the continuity to defend cyberman's rights.

I supported BBC's decision to put Nick Griffin on question time, I must be a nazi.

In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
