The faux-suspense paragraph structure that is compulsory in television history programmes nowadays.

You can't say "in 1066 William the Conqueror arrived in England".

It's got to be "On a drizzly March morning, a boat landed on a beach. A tall man in chainmail got out. He ate a croissant and smoked a Gitane. The beach was Margate; the year was 1066; and the man was William the Conqueror."

        Undersized toilet seats.
Sit back = room to dangle tackle but get skid marks.
Sit forward = no skid marks but no room to drop tackle.

Toilet taps where the water only flows when your hand is pressing down on the top of the tap.

My GCSE CDT teacher would never have let that one past the design stage.

Must agree wholeheartedly with this one.

and those automatic taps that detect your hands and switch. nothing against them in general but not in nightclubs. Everytime you chunder in the sink you get a soaking. very inconvenient!

Especially when they have a delay long enough to make you think it isn't working so you move on to the next tap by which time the original tap starts to run so you switch back just in time for it stop again by which time the second tap is running... ad infinitum
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
