The faux-suspense paragraph structure that is compulsory in television history programmes nowadays.
You can't say "in 1066 William the Conqueror arrived in England".
It's got to be "On a drizzly March morning, a boat landed on a beach. A tall man in chainmail got out. He ate a croissant and smoked a Gitane. The beach was Margate; the year was 1066; and the man was William the Conqueror."Comment

Undersized toilet seats.
Sit back = room to dangle tackle but get skid marks.
Sit forward = no skid marks but no room to drop tackle."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

Especially when they have a delay long enough to make you think it isn't working so you move on to the next tap by which time the original tap starts to run so you switch back just in time for it stop again by which time the second tap is running... ad infinitumOriginally posted by northernladuk View Postand those automatic taps that detect your hands and switch. nothing against them in general but not in nightclubs. Everytime you chunder in the sink you get a soaking. very inconvenient!Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment
