Tell the tw*t to **** off, as loud as you can in front of everyone. Walk out there and then, especially if you have something crucial to finish off. Have a beer at the nearest pub. Enjoy. Have another. Enjoy the thoughts that you won't put up with that cr*p again...

    Go somewhere else.

Been there, done it. And seen many others too. The more cr*p you take, the more you'll get. Life's too short.

Jeez what a shower! (they sound familiar but can't be )

SY01 - you keep a record of these 'unplanned' tasks right? All nicely documented in a cover-my-arse way of course.
This is the nasty bit. Sas is insensitive but correct on a point or two.
We all know that not everything can be priority one, and I'm afraid you have to keep saying it.
If you are not sure what you are implementing, you must keep asking questions - even if they don't want you to.
You don't have to get upset about doing this - that's just the way it is. Just say that to yourself when they start flapping. If you know you can't finish something for Friday, it's much better to tell them on Tuesday and take the flak for it then.

Keep going - you CAN do this!

How is everyone else coping in this lunatic situation? Is there anyone who can help you with the tool?

THEN TELL THEM (whoever them is) - that is step no 1.
Is there any point in this thread where you think I haven't made it patently clear to them the deadlines cannot be met, they are being unreasonable. That has largely been the whole point of a thread about a project manager going down in flames. He doesn't listen. Ever.

Just to be clear, are you referring to the software or the PM there?
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Why is a 'lowly developer' in charge of all this? Are you really a developer rather than an analyst?

Sas, I have re-read your posts. I know you are trying to help, and to be fair, you are. Pep talk received and understood.

                      Grow a pair.
Stand up in a meeting and tell them all that the consitant failure to meet deadlines makes you all look like a bunch of amateur hackers who couldnt manage to run a bath.
Tell them you are a software professional with a reputation to maintain and you will be forced to leave if standards can not be improved.

They would be a lot better off if they can stop insisting on the impossible and actualy tried to deliver the possible on time.

Again: What about your contract and IR35 status? If the extra work is not in your contract terms then refuse it, or quote a ridiculous amount of money to implement it. If your contract is so open that they can change what you are doing and how you are doing it at will then you will have a hard time dodging IR35 so I hope your rate covers that.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!
