In Istanbul, a few years ago…this kid came up selling a Guide book for $10…..we were actually planning to get one, but I had been advised that “street merchants” should be haggled with, so I brought him down to $8. He accepted grudgingly giving us the usual sob story , etc. Couple of hours..later I peeled off the $10 price label to show the actual price of $3 printed on the book. Still makes me smile….Comment

I know someone who was hired into a bank as a big manager
their first task on joining was to be part of a restructuring programme and fire some people
seems that the people he fired had friends in high places and quite soon afterwards he got fired
the bank got what they wanted
guess he was setup

Got done for a fiver within 30 seconds of stepping off the coach at York Races. Here's some hot tips in exchange for a bit of folding the gent said.
I knew I'd been done, but the speed and cheek of the execution had me greatly amused. It was a pub outing and I wasn't the only victim, so it gave us a tale to tell right from the start.Last edited by Sysman; 3 September 2009, 19:45.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

Your mate should be thankful that he didn't get cut in two and have both halves dumped at either end of the piazza..."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

I took a car into Kwik(s)hit and they said I needed;
2 x Front tyres
2 x Front brake pads
2 x Front brake discs
2 x Front brake calipers (one of which had seized...........?)
total £630 plus VAT
so I then took same car to a 'Green Flag' approved garage and was told
only need the 2 front brake pads. They also fixed a caliper bolt which had been left loose (by Kwik(s)hit))
Real cost £90 all inComment

I bought what I thought was a cheap printer. Turns out it needs 4 separate ink cartridges that run out at different times, and the printer won't function unless every cartridge still contains some ink.Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on TwitterComment

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment
