when you're probably just a jobbing developer? Developers should not go near live!

Escalate this and put a rocket up things (so to speak). Get all decisions and opinions on email. Make it clear you are a professional and you don't work like this, but suggest ways to progress properly.
    WHS.... wiv nobs on!!!

I'm sure if you are a developer and putting stuff into live - it breaks countless regulatory requirements - SOx for one!

What insurance company is it again??????

He'll be surrounded by people freaking out at the moment i.e. "have you done it yet", "where are we" (that one really winds me up) . Not nice, so I hope he goes and gets that pint.

        True....

However, how many people will be surrounding him at Go live + 5 minutes when it falls over with no remediation plan?

They have put the go live back by a day. We are running some non functional tests tomorrow to test the deployment to a Pre Production server. Then should that all go well, we are going live.

In the mean time I am still trying to get UAT back in step. They have promised me that the rest of the week will be spent on process development so this never happens again. I think this may take longer than 3 days.
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

                  That's a bit of a result SY01

Be tough with them tomorrow as well.

Yep - it'll take more than three days.

Glad to hear sanity (sort of ) prevailed today.
Now all you have to do is buy the two-three weeks you'll need to
                    properly release all the 'extras'.

If the UAT has gone OK so far I'd go for the option of:-

                    1) copying UAT (only) to live. Assumes it doesn't have dependency on the untested stuff.
                    2) add all the extra bits from your predecessor's various places into UAT.
                    3) UAT and release the extras as a second release.

Anything else is courting disaster, don't be bullied into taking a chance.
Ask yourself/client why these features didn't go into UAT.

I know you know all this but I'm on the bench and bored.....

And if they still insist swap the fuse on the pre-production server for a blown one.
