Dead end tools and technologies you wished you hadn't bothered with
"Not spend my time fire fighting due to system short falls"
Give me proper requirments then
Don't tell me that this is an Agile environment where the users get what the developers think they should deliver rather than what the users need.
Despite my sceptiscm of the Agile approach, it probably can work well in some scenarios and in those you need to help the stakeholders articulate and prioritise what they want delivered.
The comment
Not spend my time fire fighting due to system short falls
suggests to me that some work is required in that department.
Here's a list of some things I put a lot of time and effort into learning and resulted in very little reward.
Visual InterDev. Why did I bother with this croc?
VB6 WebClasses. Dead before it even started. I knew these inside out and yet no one used them.
LINQ to SQL. Killed by MS just as I was starting to know it well. http://ayende.com/Blog/archive/2008/...nq-to-sql.aspx
Any others here a specialist in learning dead-end technology?
"Be able to have a fully flexible multi-skilled workforce" WTF
THEN SPEND A BIT OF MONEY ON TRAINING THEN!!!
I feel for you AP, I'D SPEND MY WHOLE CONTRACT* SHOUTING AT THEM!!!
(*Which would probably be quite short...)
