Why do you need a 4x4...?

I do, except it doesn't weigh two tons, is as quick as a Porsche Boxster, is a pratical size and is immune to bad weather. And nobody knows what it is, so is great fun burning off 3-series Bimmers from the lights.

There's plenty of 4x4 that aren't (pretendy) off-roaders. Mine is a Porsche.

Mine's got 2wd\4wd high\4wd low plus a lockable diff switch for when you only have a couple of wheels on the ground.

And mine's got an electronically controlled centre diff and an LSD at the back, so whatever wheel is on the the ground will provide drive at all times, plus multi-selectable tiptronic and intelligent traction control.

Put it this way, a few months ago I towed a Toyota 4x4 off a muddy field where it had bogged down with all four wheels turning gently. Not long before that it was a Volvo XC90.
