Are they agents wanting your CV?

Surely it'll be just the same as posting your CV on jobsite/jobserve?

Except they get a step closer to seeing all your contacts once they convince you you're their new best mate?
Nope - straight in with the contract details, semi phone interview stuff about skillset etc. Surprisingly the agents contacting me via LinkedIn are less likely to be messing me about than ones from the job boards. So far, anyway.

V few subsequent requests for a CV - only where I've asked to be put forward and they needed a copy to send on. No ref requests or anything like that. Not sure why this is the case, but I'm happy with LinkedIn so far.

Honestly, I'm an agent, I am. Really. A very, very bad agent.

To be fair, if you were an agent, I'd happily be shmoozed

You know your own mind and how best to manage you situation but I think your downer on Linkedin is unjustified.

At least 50% of the approaches I've had via Linkedin have been from senior HR execs looking to recruit for their (often blue-chip) employers.

I think there's a lot of value in having a Linkedin presense and I envy anyone who feels they can afford to shun it in this market.
