Whatever did wasps do before jam was invented? I wonder.Originally posted by xoggoth View PostWaspies are brill litle creatures, It is coming up to that time of year when my garden will be full of waspies because I put jam out for them.
I have a nest in the garden, below ground (which is unusual).
I think I'll leave the little blighters alone for now.
My missus will exterminate them with extreme prejudice, if they get up to any mischief like arbitrarily stinging the children, dogs, cats, rabbits etc.
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

I have found a few dopey wasps in my living room over the last few days. I think this weather is confusing them - but I'm no David BelamyComment

If you see them you should kill them because these are 'explorers' from the nest that are seeking food sources for their young. If they find a source you will end up with masses of them after they communicate it back to the nest.

Quite. And you need smaller curtains, which is handy in this economic climate.Originally posted by Menelaus View PostIt's not the size that matters ...

I dunno, but like many of us they enjoy visiting a pub with a pleasant beer garden on a sunny summer afternoon.Originally posted by bogeyman View PostWhatever did wasps do before jam was invented? I wonder.
I advise you do. We had one underground when I was very young on the edge of our lawn. My father discovered it while mowing the lawn... as far as I remember he pushed the mower over the top of the nest and then stepped in it.I have a nest in the garden, below ground (which is unusual).
