Been tempted, many many times but always resisted

But have at times "failed" to warn a client when they were about to "sabotage" themselves

Absolutely not. Wholly unprofessional to do so.

If I had I wouldn't be admitting it on a public forum

No it's not. I'm merely pointing out that I wouldn't be admitting it in public if I had.

I briefly toyed with the idea wrt a previous employers document management system. Security was so lax if you knew what you were about you could happily go in and view or change any docs you wanted.

They they found out it was doing it itself anyway. Randomly deleting the content of documents when they were checked in and leaving a stub with the file name linked to the database.

No way to tell which docs had been trashed and which hadn't until you tried to open one

I've fantasised about it but no.

Observation has taught me that clientcos that wind staff up enough that they would consider it are quite capable of screwing things up big time on their own as part of their normal operations and need no assistance from aggrieved staff to bring it about.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
