Maybe you need to lie low in tpd2 while it all blows over.

I hope it works out for you. (manly )

I've had to make a guess at what the tax bill will be and try to ringfence that money so it doesn't get touched. Need to calculate my expenses and salary that the company owes me to work out whether it is still technically solvent or not. Probably a borderline case at the moment, to be honest.

Hmm. I wonder if the government is still doing that "deferred tax payment" scheme, or whatever it was called?
You have just prompted me to fire an email to accountant for the final figure and payment details for corp tax so I can pay it this week.

        Good luck old boy

          Good luck, RC.

Thank you all for the kind wishes. I'm not sure I deserve them but since it is better to give than receive, I shall make the sacrifice of accepting the gifts with good grace.

I was passing the time of day in the library this week and saw a comment in a Bob Monkhouse Book of Speeches:

"He decided to donate his body to science. So he pickled it in alcohol and now he's just waiting for them to call."

            If I haven't got a gig by April, that's my Plan B...

Some days are less good than others.

All day I have been sat here trying to force myself to do some gig-seeking. All I've managed is to weed out the old, dead applications from my folder and post rubbish on here.

Normally it's "Do a search on another site, then I'll let myself do a post on CUK" and other such self-bribery. But today I'm not falling for it.

So I've wasted the entire day, really.

Between the Job Centre and the Council I'm getting £41.87 per day to look for work. Which isn't bad money I suppose for a gig sitting at home, web browsing and firing off emails. Roughly equates to minimum wage.

But when I think of the times I've spent a day at a client site earning over ten times that and done bugger all there all day, I don't feel quite so guilty.

                Keep it together RC.

I sympathise though, I had to do a similar thing a few years back, no work, tax and VAT bills due, mortgage and rent due etc, and going through an ugly divorce (hence the rent).

Things will work out, and if you need a few quid for the tax I'm sure quite a few of us on here would chip in (as long as I can have a receipt :-))

It's strange. If I was in contract and feeling rich, I too would be well-disposed to helping the likes of RC out. There's a human instinct to trust articulate and interesting writers. Even if it turned out RC was just a (extremely talented) scammer I suspect we wouldn't feel conned. Maybe CUK can pay him a small retainer to keep writing?
Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on Twitter

The flip-side of that is that maybe we should charge certain people if they want to keep spouting their nonsense on here.

Things I have learned in the past:
                      - borrowing to pay a debt doesn't work;
                      - borrowing off friends results in losing the friends.

I don't think Hector will lose any sleep over having to wait for my tax money, so I've decided I won't either. Not before January, anyway!

                      I'm all shy now.

Catch-22: said small retainer would be removed from the benefits and the JobSeeker's Allowance would probably be stopped too.

However, cheques may be sent to:
                      AutoPostBot Deposit Account 7
                      AndyW Enterprises
                      Geneva
                      Switzerland
