I have never been offered complimentary anything when travelling First Class.

That has been by Silver Link; the Leeds to London service; the Taunton to London service and the London to Manchester service.

What do you have to do to get the freebies?
First Class on the First Great Western service was always much better than South West Trains'.

I remember being served free coffee in First Class on the FGW service from Paddington to Taunton a few years ago. Mrs Gonzo used the same service on a trip to Bath last year and the service was the same as before.

Back on topic, can't any issues with these cameras be overcome by the use of false plates the same as people use in London to avoid the congestion charge?

That would work. Also you can go 100mph for half then stop for a bit then go again.
        Bored.

I've always figured that if you keep appearing in Plod's photos but can't be identified, they will get irritated and eventually plant somebody out there to catch you when you pass. Then throw book.

There was a guy done on a motorbike I read recently. The police went to extraordinary lengths to ID him. Cant remember the details.

            Dont wear a distinctive lid.
            Dont wear distinctive leathers.
            Dont ride a distinctive bike.
Dont do it regularly on local roads.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

I remember this too. Didn't he get 6 months?

I don't worry about SPECS but I don't take the pish either. I'll ride to the conditions of the road. If there are no road works guys around I'll continue at 10-15mph over the limit. If there are guys in the road works a little slower.

SPECS don't keep the photos - just the number plates. I suspect they keep the ones where cars are over the limits but not ones of vehicles who's plates they can't read.

He was a twonk. I'm all up for 'making progress' but pulling a wheelie at 82mph through a 30mph camera is just asking for it.

I went up to Scotland recently and while in the Highlands I averaged 80-90 for most of the time. When there were other roads users and towns I slowed to the limits. When there was no-one else I had a little fun.

Its all give and take. Most coppers couldn't care less that a biker is over the limit as long as they don't take the piss and no-one else is in danger.

I agree with you on the SPECS thing, bikes are invisible as the system cant give a reading so doesnt record at all.

Dont go thinking that plod will let you go as long as you are not endangering anyone else.

I live near (and use) some wonderful biking roads. Local plod is intent on slowing everybody down, dangerous or not. Plod is pretty much hated here. They have shown utter contempt for bikers even when the community shopped one of its own who had deliberately run down a plod.
