Shame our Govt doesnt have the same concern for its citizens. We should at least reciprocate how other countries treat us.

You all seem to be being a bit harsh.
I move around for each contract. Our friends and families find that surreal; citing schools, friendship, family bond and career-related reasons why they couldn't possibly move any further than to a different part of the same town. It seems that, on the whole, most people find relocating quite hard.
Here we have people who have left their family, friends, schools, roots, knowledge of local laws and customs, real ale, and all those familiar things.
They were, effectively, invited to NZ to work because NZ wanted them. They were told: come here, work hard and in a couple of years, this will be your new home and we will welcome you as one of us.
So these people - who wanted to go, admittedly - broke their bonds and went. They found work, made the move, and started their new lives.
Then NZ let them down by failing to provide the work.
Then NZ said "clear off".
NZ could at least have given them 1,000 NZD per head and their air fare home.
They weren't there on temporary work permits. They were there as invited and vetted and welcome settlers.
To invite people to your home to be part of your family, then go to bed and leave them to find the door, without at least the bus fare to a hotel, is rather rude.My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment

If NZ really wanted them long term they would have offered residency. But they did not.Originally posted by RichardCranium View PostYou all seem to be being a bit harsh.

Why should these people be allowed to leave the UK and live in a decent country when the rest of us have to suffer under Labour?Comment
