**** me, he's a tennis version of Paul Scholes, he doesn't hog the limelight, doesn't big himself up, respects all his opponents, gets on with it quietly and does a very good job. Somehow that's not enough.
Some people like him, some of us don't. I fail to see what the big deal is. Just like some people didn't like henman (called him a stuck up snob if memory serves).

And I don't agree that everyone will like him if he wins 3 or 4 slams. Lots of people didn't like sampras because of his personality bypass either, and I seem to remember him winning once or twice.

Fair enough, I get that - he's not particularly charismatic. But he's british and he's in with a shout and I'd personally be supporting any british guy who was in that situation.

I think there's a massive amount of weight put on a throw away comment he made as as a joke as a teenager about supporting anyone but england.

Sampras was American, so all you have to go on is charisma. Personally I don't find Federer all that charismatic either, and he can get petulant when things don't go his way ... but he's a phenomenal player.

Were he playing, I would be behind nadal - that guy is on the verge of being the best player that ever lived, if his body holds out (a very big if by the looks of things). As it is, I want roddick to win - purely because I think this is his last chance. The roddick/hewitt game was stunning.

Although the fact that federer is about to play his 21st consecutive grand slam semi-final does open the eyes somewhat!

          Great thing about Murray

Is that since he's Scottish we can claim him and if he loses well tennis its not really a Scottish game is it?

No he isn't Paul Scholes is modest, humble, and quite a pleasant guy
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

And tulipe in front of the camera.

I don't think they're too dissimilar - which one of those characteristics doesn't murray display?

Murray is not best known for ill considered sliding tackles that could easily cripple his opponent and get himself sent off.
I imagine he is not much good 30 yards out without a racket either.

                  Appart from that, good call.
