Andy Murray - I take it back!

I really enjoyed the match yesterday, and am looking forward to the next one.

On balance and despite my previous reservations about him being an English-hating prima donna, I'll be supporting him.

I suppose I was too ready to jump to conclusions

Various discussions on this board played their part in my epiphany. What is the world coming to when sensible arguments on CUK win the day?

Not liking him is seen as anti Scottish but I was listining to Talk Sport t'other day and Alan Brazil was expressing his inability to warm to the guy especially after his lack of thanks for crowd support. You could argue he needs that to be a winner but remember, both Nedal and Federer are humble and also better tennis players. This is despite the help from the PR gurus that Murray has hired
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

If he thinks everyone in the crowd will be behind him tomorrow, he's in for a big shock. I expect a big bunch of support for Roddick - he's a very popular guy. I doubt that will bother him though.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

You're kind of implying he's arrogant, which he's not, as far as I've seen anyway. He's just not very charismatic. There was a time in the country (Eh by gum lad) when not trying to warm a crowd up for the sake of it was a good thing.

I've seen him on soccer am a couple of times, and he actually comes across as a really nice guy, with a sense of humour - he just doesn't seem to have the gift in front of the camera.

Shoot him - clearly it's not enough to have a potential wimbledon winner on our hands, he's got to be a media star as well.

I can't see how he could beat Federer given he's back to top form. It will be a good achievement to get to a grand slam final just like Greg Ruseski did, but that is it.

I'm not saying he should do the Tim Henman tribute, I'm saying he should at least have the courtesy to thank them for getting him through a tough match.

I'm sure people will warm to him once he's won 3 or 4 grand slams.

That thing about the crowd was a bit harsh really - sticking a microphone in his face 90 seconds after he's finished 4 hours of tennis was a bit off.

Umm, he's been to a GS final already (US Open last year, beat Nadal in semis and lost to federer in final) ...

And he did thank them as I recall.

**** me, he's a tennis version of Paul Scholes, he doesn't hog the limelight, doesn't big himself up, respects all his opponents, gets on with it quietly and does a very good job. Somehow that's not enough.
