Struggle with the language? You toss pot!

The cancellation of the Gay Pride march was a bit of a blow, I must admit.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

IF YOU DECIDED TO LIVE IN SPAIN SURELY IS IT NOT YOUR RIGHT TO NOT LEARN THE NATIVE LANGUAGE IF YOU SO CHOOSE TO DO SO ?

Like many British ex-pats do. Not learning a language in a country will impede the individual and no person likes that, maybe there are not the facilities in Yorkshire to deal with non English speaking adults, I dunno.

This Mayor of Doncaster looks like a bit of a narrow minded racist to me, I've lived amongst these type of "funny b*ggers" up North for many of my formative years and I know the types.

Having said that I am against people who come to England solely to milk the welfare system for example, that gets my back up and if this mayor does anything he should put a stop to that in his local area.

He taught RE for many years. How you could teach a subject like that and be thought narrow minded is laughable.
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

You are right I am a liberal (although I'm extremely right wing in terms of the economy - screw state ownership of business etc.) but not to the point where I applaud positive discrimination, people abusing the state's safety net system or having segregation /special classes in schools because people don't want their children to be exposed to religious themes that do not fit their own beliefs.

I just thnk that the mayor of Doncaster looks to be a bit of a t*wat, he doesn't look to be a bloke who wil allow people to live the lives that they want to, rather the life/standards that he wants to impose on them. Ok, cutting your pay is an honorable thing to do and if he wants to weed out inefficiencies in his own administration then great and all credit to him.

I don't care whether someone in England has chosen to learn English or not; if I'm ever surrounded by people who cannot speak English, I just attempt to communicate and if that fails, I just shrug my shoulders and move on, I don't
              let it stress me out.

Looking around these days I don't see anything so great or precious in British culture worth preserving, I would allow England to evolve and change without anyone in government / official position making attempts to steer it.

The problem is that the bleeding hearts seem to think it is our duty to spend our money to facilitate us fitting in with the migrants and not them fitting in with us. That is what this mayor is trying to stop.
These migrants seem very capable of understanding when it comes to claiming asylum and benefits or when they claim for discrimination.
Many want to bring their own culture and ways with them. The culture and ways that has made their own country either so poor they need to work elsewhere or so intolerant that they cant live there.

I have no issue with migrants (economic or otherwise), I am one. I try and learn the language of the country I am in and I try to fit in with local custom. If I am asked how the English do it or if there is an English equivelant then I am only too pleased to answer.
If there is a local law that I dont like I either comply with it or do not go. I would not dream of using human rights laws to insist they change their laws.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Just explain in what way this guy wants to "impose" standards upon people, or in what way he will not let people live their own lives? To me he is merely refusing to allow taxpayers money to be spent on translation services and putting the responsibility squarely on those who would rather we pay for their refusal to learn English.
