PS Bloke : Hilarious - as a matter of interest, are there any acts of wrongdoing not attributable to the type of governement we have? I only ask so that I can regale you with "I told you so" pointers when crime and badness doesn't miraculously stop under the forthcoming Tory government.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

This sort of thing has been going on in Britain a long time i.e. Mira Hindley.

You got to ask yourselves this question : Why does Britain such a small nation in the world have the worlds most prolific serial killer (Harold Shipman) and a vast assortment of famous sickos throughout history i.e. Jack The Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe, Sweeney Todd, Fred & Rose West etc.

Do you think we just got a better media that reports these sick killers whereas other countries keep it low profile or do you think that Britian has something fundamentally wrong in its society that creates these monsters ???

Dear SOH and smiley police - if you think I ever take anything CyberTory posts on here remotely seriously, it's you that needs the "chill pill".

There is probably one of those pathetic little smileys that means "I am enjoyed CyberTory's humour and was responding in kind" but I really can't be arsed to look for it. I enjoy ragging him about his dogmatic sectarianism as much as he enjoys pointing out what a misguided fool I am.

Other countries seem to have their fair share of child abusers/serial killers. Belgium/Austria/USA for example. The sickos get everywhere.

Maybe women YOU come in contact with aren't driven by their sexual desires, but a lot of us are.

One sexual abuser is as bad as another, regardless of gender. I dont get the distinction.

It is a common misconception that all paedophiles are men. About 20% of cases involve women.

                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ber_of_victims

Indeed; whilst Harold Shipman is accused of having been a serial killer, it could be argued that he was in fact a thief, embezzler and fraudster who happened to achieve wealth as a consequence of killing. The nature of his killing was therefore secondary to the crimes.

Jokes about Dr Shipman as a Vietnam war film ("The (Old) Deer Hunter") are unhelpful in the circumstances, not to mention a little insensitive, n'est pas?

Surely for a serial killer to be "a serial killer" (e.g., using the popular culture references) it would be anticipated that he / she would have some form of psychiatric or psychological weakness?

That people are able to achieve sexual gratification as a consequence of "pr0n" created using kids (and nursery-age kids too) is sick, twisted, amoral and - from a purely scientific perspective - probably fascinating for people who study neurochemistry.

What is the definition of paedophile? Any child less than 16? I would guess alot of cases involving boys are where they are aged 13-15 : and in alot of cases they are grateful for the experience. In fact they probably initiated it.
