    At a bank?

Dream on. Actually I agree with you to a great extent but I've seen the inside of a few banks myself and I think you're hoping for a bit too much.

Well, put what you want from them in the contract and they will price accordingly.

If you're not happy with the standard of work, utilise their warranty clauses.

        I call BS.

These days they all enforced pay cuts and scaled back big time on contractors. I know that cause I spent most of my career working for them, and know how tulip rates are now ...

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

But you said yourself that the rate does not include testing. I assume that means beyond unit test.
That is what will be delivered.
If the product passes unit test but does not integrate or work at a system level then there is a design problem, but it is not the consultants fault and nor should the consultant be required to go beyond their contract. I will take a wild guess that somewhere along the way said consultant pointed out the folly in the system to someone who ignored them.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Contractors in IBs are not the smartest f****s around. the people who have been thru the grad scheme are usually the rocket scientists - since there are 1000's of people going for those positions - not just a small pool of fifteen years in C++ devs with ATL, STL and options pricing, etc, etc.... contractors are employed for experience and specialist knowledge.

                I expect better. Higher standard.

No bullsh1t here. Why would i BS? do you think i could be bothered to type this much sh1t unless i was genuinely urked!!!!!

                    Traders maybe, yes.

IT - get a grip, the smart ones all leave at some point and go contracting. They sure as **** don't hang around being permie on tulip money because they've been there since day dot.
