In Turkey - the barber finishes off the wet shave by waving a naked flame over the chaps chin, just to get rid of the last little bits of stubble.
They have to do this with exceptional skill so as to avoid burning the patron. If you see a Turkish barber with a broken nose, you can assume he hasn’t always achieved the right quality standards.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014
How many shaves do you get out of a razor blade? My disposables seem past their best after about half a shave.
I use the blue bic disposables, and strop mine with the palm of my hand. Each one last about two weeks, no joke. (Not that I'm bothered about making them last).
Much as I like the blue disposables, the cheaper yellow bics cut my face to ribbons! I guess the blades must stick out further on them, or use poorer quality steel that the bristles nick. Horrible things.

I use the yellow bic disposables and they last about six months each.
Mind you, I am a northerner

Have you thought of taking the young man down to Trumpers, or a similar time established gentleman’s barbers so he can learn the right way from the beginning and not develop bad habits?
My Dad took me down there eons ago and purchased my first shaving mug and brush, I have been using them ever since. Makes for a nice tradition and all that what!?
