I think what does scare me is the response from the doctors on that Beeb link I gave. Normally doctors are quite calm and methodical (they need to be) faced with emergencies; that's not the impression I got from those comments. Could have been a consequence of translation though.

Mexican doctors are notoriously rubbish. A friend of mine was on holiday there and had an accident with a musician at a restaurant. He went into hospital to have a marracas removed and they whipped his bollocks off by mistake
