I read today that bird flu has killed about 250 people worldwide over the past 7 years or so. With swine flu having killed 81 in Mexico in a week or so and now affecting at least 20 in the USA, this would appear to be on a much more worrying scale. Some comments on here show amazing complacency IMO.

Regular flu kills an awful lot more than that. So do the other big killers that we are used to.

After reading this on the Beeb website, and especially doctors and medics claiming the worst has been covered up, I tend to agree with Cyberman

            http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/8018428.stm

I've read on a foreign website that some cabin crew have been confined to a hospital in north London, yet there's no mention here. Of course it may be something else entirely, but it all seems scary nonetheless.
Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on Twitter

Those messages on the BBC website are truly frightening. It appears that deaths are well above the 81 reported. As far as the air crew were concerned, I heard on the radio that they were given the all-clear. However, I would not put a cover-up past our crazy government !!

                According to http://webapp.cdc.gov/cgi-bin/broker.exe

In the US in 2006: 631,636 people died of Heart Disease and 559,888 of cancer

Pig flu will have to get crack(l)ing to come anywhere close to those.

All that links tells me is this:

                  "Broker Version 8.1 (Build 1366)"

A ****ing .EXE for a CGI file?

I read something on some website. It must be reliable, otherwise how could it have got on the internet? Now I'm convinced something is going on.

Oops. It was a page generated from http://webapp.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/leadcaus10.html with the default options.
