Do let us know how you get on ... but may I suggest you give this rather special ale its own thread? My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment

I had some awful marstons ale friday night, I thnk it was called snecklifter or something. It was a dark beer and I think instead of roasting the malt they had burnt it and continued to use it. Tasted like carbon.Originally posted by DaveB View PostIt was indeed from Morrisons. They do a four pack of Marstons beers.

Anyway, starting early on home made rhubarb wine. First attempt at wine and its come out clear as a bell and although slightly too sweet is perfectly palettable. Its bright pink and not the sort of thing you would be like to be seen holding in a pub - as a bloke anyhow.Comment

.
Take some doing that does. A 10-14% beer needs to be aged for in 6 - 18 months, dependant on various factors. Most brewing books recommend around 18 months for strong ales/ barley wines but you can get away with a shorter period but the taste will change over time as the hops "settle".
A 4% beer will be ready in about 2-6 weeks dependant on the beer. Most barelled beer are delivered to the pub a few days old, and the barell is aged in the cellar. Although most modern pubs will not give a tulip and will serve it "green".
They must have aged it for years. No wonder its £30 a bottle.Comment
