Whats the science behind not mixing grape and grain?

Every Friday I have a few Abbots or Ruddles followed by half a bottle of whatever red Mrs Jedi picks, cant say I've had any ill effects from mixing the two?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Following the adage "Beer wine fine, wine beer queer" works in my experience. So mix but in the right order.

This morning I've been advised that bottles of Abbott Ale are now stocked in the Brit Club here.

            Aldi's Golden Pale Ale. 4.2%

            £1.19

Slightly blander than I was expecting. Not unpleasant. Good mouth feel. Possibly chilled too harshly, hence the blandness of taste.

Sweet in the aftertaste. Similar to a slightly blander Badger pale ale such as Golden Glory.

            Verdit. 7/10.

              Aldi's XB English Ale.

              4.5%

Again, blander than I would have expected. Slightly smoky aftertaste which is intriguing. Nut brown ale.

                Batemans Spring Harvest.

                £1.39

Don't really care how strong now.

Marked difference. Bundles of malty flavour. Not in the least bland. Marked contrast.

                      Aldi IPA 5%

Much less bland. The best of the £1.19 ers. Would buy this again.

A Malty, bodied IPA, with good hop balance.
