Why not just scrap engines and replace them with donkeys? Has nobody ever thought of this?

...are you going to then reduce speed limits just for the sake of it where you don’t need to? That’s where you lose the respect or the support of the motorist.
"The respect or the support of the motorist"

Yeah, by banning guns you lose the respect and support of the hunting enthusiast, and by banning smoking in public places you lose the respect and support of the nicotine addict. Heartbreaking.

So, in all of human history we've had a couple of decades where even the cheapest cars are powerful enough to cruise along at 70, 80, 90mph no problem, without the drivers even thinking about it. But that's too fast for the roads and causes crashes and deaths.

Maybe motorists will enjoy having the respect and support of sane people.

So the only sane people are not motorists?

I always thought most people were mad.

60mph limit on narrow single carriageway country roads was always crazy concept - 40 mph should be there.

Oh, hang on, that's bleedin' obvious.

Why not improve the roads to match the capabilities of modern cars?

Or am I being a bit techie about this?
