Infact existing South East of England and Northern France (having two decent cities at their disposal) could have a posh reunion between "city of love" and "city of traders i.e. hatred".....

..and as soon as France becomes the new South East of England, we'll kick all the frenchies out of Areva and replace them with the fine upstanding brits who lost their jobs.

I think you'll find that they won't allow non-French citizens to do work of that kind. They're not stupid.

I posted on this Nuclear building subject before the strike was on against Italian workers, saying that this would become another major issue. The French initially were saying that the jobs would only be done by Polish workers and that no British would be employed, so it appears that some ground has moved.

The other GB made a speech today about important nuclear energy would be in the future globally. So we are well positioned to prosper in this exciting nuclear future by letting the French install and own ours Perhaps the future will be a bit like the industrial revolution, but French this time.

Yep - things could have progressed better then - we still had a major share of the world's industries and maybe we could have done better (Ithink not really)

Nowadays, the UK is quite hopeless compared to the best in Europe.
For too long. the public have been kidded about the financial sector being the engine of growth. We are now at a stage that is similar to just after the last war. THE UK IS BANKRUPT!!!!!
I'm all for our industries being taken over by our stronger, better and more educated European neighbours. The projects will be better run and implemented properly. No doubt they will be cheaper too.

You only have to look at the recent failed projects in the UK to see that.

I would much rather my children be part of European mainland, than to be limited to a small dirty island with poor infrastructure and really bad food.

Your facts are wrong. It was Edward Heath that was a staunch Europhile and he never changed his stance until he died a few years ago. Thatcher was against EU control and in favour of the 'free' market and did not become PM until after the previous crisis (IMF + Winter of discontent) under Labour in 1979. It was also Thatcher that won us the EU rebate with her tough stance that Labour has frittered away in trying to appear pro-EU.
