Start in a place permie and you have no employee rights for the first year (you can get chucked out and the employer doesn't even have to give a reason).

Or if you work there for 1 year you get 1 months redundancy pay (taxed) and then they chuck you out.

zero bonuses and you are expected to work Saturdays etc. its just a load of bullocks, people trying to make you feel that you are part of something when you don't even own the chair that you sit on or the pen at your desk that you write with.

No promotion prospects, no training. You are only there to make a manager look good in meetings.
    WHS.

Surely you can get a contract on the same effective pay as these permie jobs? At least then you are a real man and not someone's biatch.

that only applies if your a lewser and some how think being a contractor makes you have freedom lol.

If you cant play the game - its not for you - so use every excuse not to take a Perm job.

To progress and succeed in Permidom requires skill, diplomacy and manipulation.

The weak use excuses - the strong go out there and are the ones that sack you.

Exactly my thoughts as well - the term permenant is a misnomer - you have a notice period of typically a month which the employer can exercise at the drop of a hat - it is not permenant nor secure at all .

So you have 'contracts of employment of specific duration ' and 'contracts of employment of non-specific duration' .

Both the above are subject to notice period.

PS I think you have to work two years to gain redunancy from a 'contract of employment of non-specific duration' and it is one week per year - so thats two weeks pay - then taxed.

                  Wow.

That means they give you a brochure full of noddy courses like 'shoelace-tying for beginners' or 'intermediate velcro' and enough budget to go on about 1 in 4 of them.
During a recession staff whom have a contract of non-specfic duration tend not to regsiter for training courses - least they be listed for the chop.

Yes but it's still better than not having a contract, if you can't land an interview anywhere else.
