Work, or talk to peopleThe court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

So 75% of the pot cannot be withdrawn.Originally posted by expat View PostWRONG!
Firstly, you can take out 25% tax-free. Secondly, you don't have to buy an annuity, you can simply withdraw money yourself. Thirdly, when you die, what is left is not lost.
BTW the capital is not necessarily lost on death in an annuity either, that is a choice that you make at the time of buying the annuity.
You do have to buy an annuity by age 75.
And when you buy the annuity, your pot will be gone, overwise what's the point?
Yes, and think of the fantastic annuity rate you will get.
Infact.
Live like a pauper all your life to pay your pension.Comment

spoke to a financial advisor yesterday about pensions. Can't do this. Can't do that. Only 25% lump sum. Must buy an annuity etc etc. Tax efficient. Until they take the tax off when you most need it.
I don't like investing in products I don't understand or are too restrictive and complicated.
A pension benefits the financial advisor, the government, the pension and annuity companies. What's left is yours.
I'll start a FTSE Index Tracker ISA. Nice and easy and flexible.Comment
