    This is an outrage ...

    ... and must be stopped!

Times: Guinness is claiming an industry first with plans to put the number of units of alcohol on the side of a pint glass.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Don't different drinks have different number of units?

I assume the 500,000 new glasses will all be Guinness branded, and hence, should only have Guinness poured into them.

Yes but I guess the idea is that these will only be used for Guinness.

Sounds like alot of work for pubs though : maybe they need pubs that only sell Guinness!

Loads of pubs have glasses for 'premium' drinks, especially Guiness... I don't think I'd order it if it came in a normal pint glass.

But will it tell you when the Beefeater has watered down the Guinness again by displaying a lower number of units?

              Thought not.

Hopefully this sort of thing will meet the government half way on their responsible drinking campaign, and avoid any more increases in beer duty which must be choking the industry.
