The BBC's refusal to broadcast an appeal by charities for aid in Gaza is attacked by the government, opposition and protesters.

And the BBC is paid for by the "license fee" (which is really a tax). About £140per household.

Some high profile person was on the radio yesterday saying they were now refusing to pay their license fee, and donating the fee to an old peoples charity. He was prepared to go to jail if necessary.

The way to hit them is by a mass boycott of the license fee. The way things are going, that is not impossible.

The Beeb has not been a news organisation since the 1990s when it ended the contracts of its overseas news agents an started buying in the news from Merkin news agencies.

It's not that the BBC is biased as such, they just report USA news as it is sold to them.

The BBC's refusal to broadcast an appeal by charities for aid in Gaza
As a licence fee payer, I do not want any portion of my licence fee used to broadcast appeals.

There are suitable charities in place to achieve that sort of thing, and I have the freedom of choice of donating to them if I wish.

What I do object to is the BBC using my money for non-BBC activities.

I pay them to make TV programmes, and if a programme is written about the Israel / Palenstine conflict then fair enough. I agree with that, provided no sympathy or bias is demonstrated.

But when money is diverted from the purpose in which it was given, and used to broadcast an appeal, then the BBC are putting themselves in the unbiased position of being a charity and ignoring the point of their existence.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

How many illegal Israeli settlements are there in Gaza?

          They were the reason.

What's needed is a Israel appeal to balance the Gaza appeal.

              No mention of ethnic cleansing?

Forgive me for being stupid but, haven't we, the taxpayers, just donated 7 million pounds in aid to Palestinians in Gaza?

ITV/C4/C5 are showing it, but then those channels show adverts as a matter of course. I object to the BBC showing appeals when I can watch these adverts on ITV/C4 if I want (I don't).

To be fair to the BBC (just once) : the situation there is ***** and anybody is going to have a problem reporting it fairly.

On the other hand, the BBC's reporting of the financial situation is just woeful.

Does that mean Terry Wogan & Aled Jones can't do any more Christmas songs for Children in Need?

I had a wee cry everytime I heard Little Drummer boy being played during Christmas, it was beautifull.
