well you're one of the good ones, I was referring to others in the chippy etc. there's always plenty of people who see things but don't want to get involved

another example- I saw some two women (foreign, wearing headscarfs) steling from boots right in front of me in the queue. I kept an eye open to see if they would pay for the items they hid in their kids pram. They were quick and I lost them but tried to find a security guard. No one was about, the staff seemed disinterested and kept on passing me onto other people. By then they were long gone.

That sense of duty seems to be long gone. Not just with the public but with the police also who seem to have a baffling array of lines to come out with to explain why nothing can be done.
It's a terrible shame that people don't have a sense of civic duty, and worse, think it is funny or not their problem.

But I agree with you, the police are pretty shockingy useless.

Its amazing how if you get a handful and friends and stage a demo at a judges house or a protest at a court you quickly get scores of police turning up. There are plenty of police out there! Its a question of priority....

... perhaps because I was going to be a live witness rather than a dead one !!

Now there is the irony. A few years back I got arrested by seven officers when they found me asleep in my car with my girlfriend outside of my girlfriend's flat. They tried to do me for being 'drunk in charge' but I won the case !!!

I can't believe you were impressed with your behaviour, I would be embarassed to tell that story.

I would be even more embarrassed if I was that female police officer !!

.... and at the time I got arrested, I said to them 'why don't you spend your time arresting real criminals' and I told them the story about the chip shop. They proceeded to physically attack me and it took me a few days to recover from the damage to my neck from a headlock !! I wish that I could respect the police but I cannot for the above reasons and others that I may relate later.
