You could do 1 to 3 without first getting rich.

Not without my family suffering in some way.

Which brings me to another point. Some people seem to be able to have a full and productive life without needing copious amounts of money. There is no point becoming rich with a poor mindset.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I'd spend my time traveling and doing/seeing stuff, life experiences as you call it. Probably use the money to help out my friends/family as well if that was required.

Yes. Stay poor. There's nothing worse than worrying about your investments and the like. Look at sasguru!

WHS - might not even move, just improve the house more than it is at the moment.

Work out what you would do if you were rich.

                Do it anyway.

Also if I did become 'rich' I certainly wouldn't go around telling anyone personally, only my very closest family.

I agree with Oracleslaves points but I don’t think I need millions to do it, my current life goal is to have a home in nice rural area by the sea where we can live a semi self sustainable life, I'd want the wife and I to work part time to keep us sane but also give us more time with our kids.

Funny how having a gloomy financial outlook make you refocus on what’s important.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Isn't that what much of the population has been doing...living on credit?
