I think the NE does have some industry left that actually makes things, a couple were on Working Lunch before Christmas saying there was a lot more interest from Europe.

Recently, the mayor of Newcastle has had to answer to allegations that Newcastle, as a city, was extremely homophobic.

The DWP in Longbenton will continue to soak up the region's unemployed. They have a limitless capacity for people to sit about in tracksuits, eat stotties and play freecell from 10-4 Monday to Friday.
It probably works out cheaper than paying JSA or IB.

The trouble is that Gordon Brown actually believes this !!
