BBC News 24 have just said 3% of its Gas requirements come from Russia so shouldnt be effected, seems awfully low %, are they mistaken?

Either way, all this disruption in the world, first Gaza, now Russian Gas, seems a bit suspect, dastardly ploy by shady men in power to raise Oil and Gas prices and stimulate weapons/oil/gas spending by invoking conflicts?

Firstly, they only say that deliveries could collapse, not that they have done, or definitely will.

Secondly, there's no suggestion that Russia is Germany's sole source of gas.

Therefore, there is nothing whatsoever in the story to support the assertion that Germany is "Out of Gas."

Further on with this guy, apparently he really only has himself to blame in many ways. He speculated a lot on shares last year, especially VW and lost a few hundred million. He then went to the German government asking for a handout to cover his losses who basically told him to get lost. However if had sold Ratiopharm which is worth a few billion he could quite easily have covered his losses but he didn't want to break up his empire. By committing suicide it looks like he's done that anyway

I thought France and Germany had vast liquid gas storage depots for just such an eventuality as this.

unlike the UK of course, which for cost cutting reasons omitted to build any and therefore has enough stored gas to last about a week or less

And most of our energy suppliers owned by foreigners. I'm sure that EDF will be more than happy to supply electricity to France, even as the power cuts kick in in London.
