Leaving is helping. I seriously believe that highly densely populated countries like ours will soon be in deep tulip. The current financial crisis is but a blip by comparison. The world is about to change radically one way or the other on the energy front, and population problem grows exponentially worse. We are deeply screwed in the UK IMO. If you value your future, pension and well-being of your kids, get the flip out of here ASAP to a less densely populated country before they close the flood gates. The time is not far off now. Doomed.

    p.s. have a nice day.

When I sit under the apple tree in the garden in South London (would be hard to do that in Brussels, Berlin or Bangkok) in summer sipping Pimms, then walk to the cozy pub round the corner to meet my mates to watch a footy match, eat a warming cottage pie, then get mugged on my way back home - I think -good old Blighty, I'm not moving.
      Hard Brexit now!

Last time I checked, there were lots of contracts in my Oracle niche, but for some reason lots of deadly things (snakes, spiders, drought) and the fact that we were so soundly hammered in the last Ashes put me off.

Does that we abandon ship and leave the poor to rot?
          Of course not.

Just put those luxury apartments built from the old poor houses back to their intended use.

          Job done!

Apply for an independent skilled migration visa, which gives you Australian Permanent Residence

Around 20 years ago I was on a contract at the DHSS (as it used to be called) run by EDS and as has been seen since, not much has changed in the way the Government handles its contract placements nor how it tries to do business. The contract ended and there was nothing on the market due to a certain lady and her free market enterprise politics. I saw a job advertised in Germany, a country I had visited for a week not long previously which I enjoyed very much, and applied for it. One call, one quick interview and I was on my way. I have now been here for nearly 20 years and can never see me going back. As has been pointed out in other posts, the quality of the UK has degraded to a point where it many areas it resembles a third world country which to me is very sad as I try to be proud of my country. I have a pretty good lifestyle here, integrated into the community, get to travel easily around the rest of Europe (and world occasionally) and feel that I am part of a greater community now than I would ever be living in the UK.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

That was exactly it for me, I will never forget the bus journey going back to the family house from the airport, I was just looking out thinking "WTF this place is a bloody dump" It was something I had not realised to such an extent before.

Working in Australia is just totally different, at 5 o’clock you are told to leave, most places here expect you to stay late. Just a totally different attitude.

I am actually desperate to get away, but mostly I want to get out of the city, Glasgow is just disgusting now, during the 80s they actually did a great job of cleaning the city up but it has been left to rot again. The areas round Central station are covered with pound shops, junkies, romanian beggers, big issue sellers. I was in the somerfield beside the station last night and a junkie was in buying cat food, when he left the security guard shouted “enjoy your dinner” after a few seconds I realised he was being serious!

You can rest assured you've done your bit for Blighty. And then some.

Good points. Britain has a history to be proud of, most of all IMO 1939 - 1941.
But I ask myself - if we were in that situation again, would Britain fight to defend the World, do the right thing (at our own expense) or say, "well bunch of foreigners probably deserve it and don't get me started on those Jews with their banks...".etc....Unfortunately, I thnk it would be the latter.

Since when did money become more important than the country we live in?
I'm not moving for money, I'm moving for a change of lifestyle

For generations our ancestors have fought to protect our land - to give us a country where we could live, raise families, and be safe.
Many of our ancestors emigrated too...

                      That still applies doesn't it?
I mean is it so bad here that we are fighting for our lives? No.
Is there a famine? No of course not.
Our house prices are no longer jumping through the roof. Boo frolicking hoo.
Does that mean we abandon ship and leave the poor to rot?
Saving the world is Gordon Brown's job.

Suggesting a mass exodus on a forum like this...possibly the top 5% earners in the country....I just find it disgusting. It's people like us who should be working out where we need to direct our money to help the most. It's people like us who should be ploughing our money into banks, into buying things from small businesses, into eating out as much as we can, into spending...primarily I'd have thought on our loved ones who'll be struggling at the moment.
I'm selfish, I admit it. I want to do what's best for me, not what's best for the country.

I've not seen one thread on here yet which said "How can we help?"...this really saddens me.

Anyone who leaves this country in it's greatest time of need, should never be allowed to return. They should be tret as deserters....after all, that's what they are isn't it?
In all honesty I can't imagine ever wanting to return, except to visit family.
                      Just my thoughts...
