I want to live somewhere few people venture to, with lots of exotic and fascinating cultures, where you can leave behind anything English and really experience a completely new way of life, new languages and new cultural values.

    I'm moving to Luton.

It seems that everywhere in the world will be affected by the recession to varying extents, so if I'm to be scraping about for work I'd rather do it the UK, which I know, rather than somewhere that I don't.
      .....
Someone else mentioned the overcrowding and I'm concerned about it, but I'm also hopeful that a new government will put a handle on the excessive and uncontrolled net immigration we've had since the late 1990s.
      ....
I don't enjoy my life in the UK. Sorry. We have the best music and broadcasting, and what I read I mostly read in English. But I don't enjoy anything much outside the house.

As for work, I am scraping about to find any in the UK, whereas I am not in some other places in Europe. Depends on the skillset I suppose.

Overcrowding: I'm not talking about immigration. I'm talking about lack of space everywhere in everything. 50 million people is far too many for a country this size*. Everything seems cramped to me; some people may like it but to me it just wears me down all the time.

      * I know that's not the population now, my point is that even before significant immigration, there were too many people. For my taste.

i'm happy in the uk. our house is a home and the kids are in a good school. we are staying and building our future here.

heathrow does appear to be in terminal decline and as such gives a very bad image to those arriving and leaving but it is undergoing a massive reconditioning. in a few years time it will present a better statement of intent.

All airports are now landing strips with malls and ludicrously priced parking attached.

New Labour have a target population of 70m, mostly through immigration, so it's practically empty now. Enjoy the 10 square feet of space you have now, cos your children will be crushed in the crowds.

              Have you ever been lately????

Things have got so bad the centre-piece for the new shopping mall is to be a three storey Primark and boy, you should have heard the councillors and the local rag rave about what a great thing it was for the town.

I thought they had backtracked on that target, and now say there is no limit after all? No need to worry about being crushed in crowds, because everyone still alive will be very skinny.

I live in the area...The new mall was supposed to have been completed by now...Its still a hole in the ground.

When your council starts putting its own town down it ain't good. They have a positive attitude which they need all of...considering it is Blackburn. Many of the problems are due to County Council neglect before Blackburn became independant.

Out of town malls have ripped the heart out of my city centre, nobody goes into town to shop anymore and the place is becoming a dump, many of the shops are closing now and if they do get replaced they are pound shops.

Everyone knew that was going to happen but the council charged ahead and built loads of them.
