Currys and Dixons are the same, part of DSGI, which has been a good dividend payer over the years but is now facing serious trouble from the net.

They still have Dixons in airports though, always a money-spinner. They compare their prices with "High Street Prices" which actually means Currys price for the item!

Jessops is obviously facing the same problem as Dixons.

I reckon Homebase and/or B & Q, although on second thoughts if lots of people are being laid off then maybe they'll be spending more on DIY materials.

Sure. Everybody who is not now moving house will be off to get some loft floorboarding or garden shed kits or whatever....

              Could be difficult to predict,

I think the high street in most towns and cities are going to disappear sooner or later.

There isn't mush these days that you can buy in the high street that you can't get online from reputable traders and usually cheaper.

Most high streets brands have an equivalent online offering anyway, e.g. banking, electrical, clothing, travel, entertainment etc.

Couple this with extortionate parking costs, and before any tree huggers attack me, when you have a family with 2 young children, public transport in the UK is rubbish, most commuter train stations have stairs and no lift and try carrying a double buggy and shopping up 2 flights of stairs on your own

In fact even at the mian station the lifts were out and my wife had the kids in a double buggy and shopping (this was the last time she used the train system I might add), even though there were several members of staff at the train station, when she asked for help to get the buggy up 2 sets of stairs, no one said they could help due to health and safety regaulation in carrying heavy loads.

So anyone who wants to defend public transport be my guest.

Sorry gone off the subject slightly, oops.

My vote if HMV, certainly from the high street. I use a website called play.com. Can get anything I want with free delivery for alot cheaper than than the high street, even the lattest and greatest titles can be got for around 20% cheaper on line.

Wonder if Paddy Power has a book on this like they have on airlines?
