Isn't that what you call colcannon?

I suppose it is but Mammy would put some scallions (spring onions) in too - just for good measure.

Good stuff. I’d eat that with a Dutch ‘speklap’; a 1 cm thick rasher of streaky bacon and some strong mustard.

Yes, lots of them, but I’m in two minds about the Zwarte Piet tradition. On the one hand it’s an old tradition that’s meant in a harmless way, but on the other hand I have black friends who are not very happy about it.

                Sorry to hear that.

In ny case it was the Father of my girlfriend at the time , in fact I knew him first through my piano playing (he was a pro-piano player in a band) and his daughter - from Frankfurt - sang in the band.

But Harald was a great friend and piano player. He died on Xmas day after suffering a blod clot in the brain on Xmas eve with his family on holiday in Austria, aged 44.

                Bless him.

We split up when I left Germany - she ended up marrying the drummer (Rudi) in the band - I was gutted as he was one of my mates.

However- fate again struck as Rudis father died on their wedding day.

Life in Germany always seems to be traumatic.

so, it's ok to say Christmas is evil?

is it also ok to say Islamic celebrations are evil?

This is the single most true thing said on CUK EVER
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
