The Cabinet Secretary. A permanent civil servant and head of the Civil Service. If you remember Yes Prime Minister, it would have been the Sir Humphrey Appleby character.

A mere functionary, trainined merely to serve his masters!

What make the Police think they can launch spurious investigations with political motivations?

What law is it exactly that they think they are above?

That most of the laws brought in recently are political in nature?

Indeed. I’m not a Tory or a NuLab supporter, but I can’t understand how the Tories deserve the title ‘vermin’ any more than a government who’ve taken us into two disastrous wars, one of them based on lies, have driven us into a massive economic decline with the help of their chums in the US republican party and regularly arrest those who publicly disagree with them.

Remember Walter Wolfgang? He isn’t exactly a Tory, but he was held under the terrorism act for expressing his opinion, and it looks to me like this Green chap just exposed some inconvenient news about the government.

It seems rather childish to label all supporters of an essentially moderate party as 'vermin' simply because you don't agree with them.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

I think the problem is that he is a Tory by virtue of his lifestyle, yet he feels guilty about it. Instead of redistributing his vast wealth to more deserving chavvy types, he keeps his conscience clear by calling the Tories "vermin"
