No, just not in the pretentious South. Those were typical prices in any small town in the north-east back then.

recessions do not affect all equally. some benefit - some do badly.

Indeed. Yesterday contract was extended until summer 09 plus a order on the side - not enough hours in the day, hence my absence from here of recent.

Some of us were a little bit more intelligent than that and would have to have a price fall of over 50% before we started taking any notice. And no, I have no intention of ever moving so I really couldn't give a monkey's what some spotty faced little estate agent (assuming there are any left ) thinks it might be worth. I live out in the sticks miles from the human race, have more than one income stream and try hard not to feel a little smug. Only problem we have here is power cuts....and everyone will be getting those soon! Oh and dumbarse delivery drivers who can't follow a satnav.

The most entertaining thing about this recession is watching the steady stream of politicians trying to convince people that they have the first clue about what is going on. None of them do - if they did they wouldn't be politicians.

No increase... but then I know the budget for the project and there's no need for me to cream it tempting as it is.

Astonished with other contractors on the client's site though most are on a lower rate and are always complaining. One guy is leaving in a couple of weeks and my prize is his work-load. Great... Client keeps this up and I will be asking for an increase. I'm too nice that's my problem.

That bears no relation whatever to what I posted.

So in a similar vein, in response to the rest of your response, here is my response :

"Yeah, well if I've got a hat on it's Tuesday."

No I mean you will get less for it if you sell it now. Value is what someone is prepared to pay. Now they are prepared to pay less than before. There is no 'price it should be', there is the price someone will pay.

Have a look at your last invoice if that's confusing.

Personally I feel that not get a cut is like an increase these days! But then I work in a bank!

I still think being nice is a good thing - it keeps one in worse. AS long as they dont totally take the p1ss.
