Blackmore is God.

Tommy Bolin (Blackmore's replacement in Deep Purple) was a great guitarist too, or at least would have been if he could have gone 30 seconds without sticking needles in his arms. What a waste.

He was on that History of the Guitar program as a guitar Hero. I was thinking FFS he just relies on effects and isn't really that good...

Interviewer asks him how he came up with a rift for Elevation "I found this effect pedal..."

and then where the streets have no name, half the riff was created by the delay effect he was using. He turned it off and it was just 2 notes alternating.

Yeah, I caught that too. I still rate him though - he's responsible for some memorable riffs, even with the reliance on effects.
