right I have just stood up and jumped off my chair. I hit the ground and it didn't kill me, presumably because I wasn't hitting the ground hard enough due to the small jump involved. Right now I'm off to jump off the top of this building. I'll let you know how I go on.
I think I've spotted a flaw in your experiment. The last thing we will hear from you is that all is fine so far...

Did you see the story of the biker done 17 times (or something) in a month? He thought he was immune because the speed cameras were all forward facing ones (and bikes obviously don't have a plate at the front).

The police managed to track him down from his jacket.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

That toe rag deserved doing, but I am amazed that they could ID him. He must be an even bigger knob if his clothing is that distinctive.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Never had the gall to try it, but I - ahem, I mean other drivers - regularly do 80 on the Huntingdon to Cambridge one. I think they set the leeway pretty high.

Is that proof? Couldn'this lawyer get him off if that is the only evidence?

This would mean few traffic police on the roads. I'll be taking my numberplates off or swapping them for a fake set for any trip long enough for it to be worth the hassle.

Those seeking to control all that I do, as ever, can go fk themselves.

If that's roadworks could it be there's an exit half way through?

Bumbling along the M4 roadworks at 51 MPH, I was surprised to find cars suddenly roaring past at 90 but they exited off a slip road before the road works ended. So either they don't understand the concept of average (which I'm sure quite a few muppet drivers don't) or they know there's no camera on the exit.

No these are permanent average speed cameras, been there over a year now. There are various exits along the route, so you do have to beware not to follow someone suddenly speeding up - they know their exit is before the next camera.

The good thing about them is if you get slowed down by a truck doing 60 for 2 mins, then you know you can do 80 for 2 minutes to compensate. Just keeping a mental idea of the balance.

The right thread! I was merely gracing this "Doh! Those pesky cameras, etc." thread with my "Thank f--k I'm no longer involved with cars!" musings.

You can always tell them - they're the ones slowing down for the camera. There's no speed measurement taken at average speed cams, you can go through them at 100 if you like (as long as you drive suitably slowly before the next one to average out your speed
