It is well known that murder is one of the least likely repeat offences as the murder is itself usually caused by a very specific set of circumstances and usually includes the victim. It is very rare for those circumstances to happen again.
Certainly there have been some well publicised cases of people with mental problems killing again, but that is a mental health issue. I am sure there have been a number of gangland killers also but they do not randomly kill members of the public.

yes, I am sure about it. I read this on a link this very morning while I was researching my previous replies. If I can find it again, I will post it.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to suggest you are making it up, I was just wanting to clarify if it was sensationalising figures to make a point.
I would be interested as to over how many years those 80 were counted.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

You're a joker !!! I read it early last year in the press and I discussed it with guys at work, so I remember it well. Not everything is on the internet.
Unfortunately, home office figures since 2000 are not available. Get me some official figures that prove me wrong, if you feel that it is untrue.

What we do know is that sentences for murder have been reduced substantially, so my basic argument of increased leniency is correct.

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime !!

Unfortunately you reading it in the daily mail and discussing with guys at work lsometime early last year isn't a very convincing argument.

The article did not mention the number of years, but it is obviously over the number of years that we have been releasing murderers, so I would guess about 30 years or so. The fact is that if those guys were still incarcerated then 80 more people would not have suffered premature death.

... and that is why lies and spin of New Lie win with guys like you, and they never have real evidence to support their arguments when it suits them.
You just will not accept that sentencing is lighter nowadays against any evidence that I or anybody else produces. Perhaps you just want murderers to be treated lightly. Fair enough, but I don't. I want much more severe punishments.

I just had a quick google and got "up to 120 since 1965". The date is relevant as that is when hanging was abolished.
