    I dont get it?
How did you get through the barriers without a valid ticket?
If the ticket you had worked the barriers then as far as you are concerned it is valid.
Once you were outside you could have dropped/binned/given away your valid ticket so they would have little chance of proving your guilt.

Did you make this up or are you not telling us something?
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

      more to the point..

wtf are you doing man commuting with the great unwashed?? surely viewing a purchase should not be done during morning hours, was the round of golf cancelled?

i fully understand that you dont have a ticket, that's obviously because you are about to buy the train and therefore dont see the need when all you are doing is viewing the vehicle before purchasing..

i am a little troubled with the "well im skint and i finally got caught" comment, you mean Jeeves didnt bring along the usual wedge of cash? and it's happened before? what's the problem there then, flog him, sack him and eject him from his cottage off your estate, i would never stand for such a thing.. tsk tsk servants these days are getting worse..

and as for this "fat bitch" you refer to, I would advise his owner that if he is looking to take part in the chase then the bitch needs to slim down a bit, the rest of the hunt would never allow a porker of a hound to chase that dastardly fox

they said their fraud department will be sending me a letter and read me my rights as if they were police officers i was like wtf is going on here.

It's just a train service they cant do anything or can they?

little bit worried about the fraud department effecting my sc, is using a train without a valid ticket a criminal offence?
Just see is as equivalent to shoplifting, basically you used a service and didn't pay. If you do it persistently you can go to jail. The higher the ticket fare the more serious it is. If you right an apologetic letter, just as it helps other criminals to show remorse it should help you too.

It's not just the Police that can institute criminal proceedings. They can do so, but are (like the Police) required to notify you of your rights ("read you your rights" if you derive your knowledge of the law from television dramas) when informing you that they intend to do so.
if you derive your knowledge of the law in Britain from American television dramas.

Sad. People watch American TV and think they're seeing our real life.

the thing is im a nice guy and I feel guilty not cos of the fat slag but the actual conductor took it serious and seemed quite young same age as me perhaps and I went home feeling bad. I might right them a letter and say sorry.

Ironically i have forgotton my monthly a few times and had to buy a ticket and never got them refunded as the process to do so sucks, I also broke up a few fights on the late train, so lol, its not like I could have said can you give me a free weekly ticket as I have literally no money, lol they would laugh at me.
Sorry to be blunt but you sound like an @rse. The person who is doing her job, probably for a cr@ppy wage you describe in the terms you did.

Presumably the 'wrong ticket' means you tried to use last months ticket. Now you are miffed because the 'fat slag' was doing her job so well that she caught you out. When questioned the 'fat bitch' had obviously heard all these excuses and took matters further. I'm sure that if you can produce the right ticket showing that you were eligable to travel that day then all of this would be dropped. Do you really have the right ticket or were you trying to use the old one for a few extra days travel thinking nobody would notice?

When did you realise that you had the wrong ticket?

It isn't ironic that you have not got a refund on your other tickets - it is you being lazy and somewhat at odds to your statements about being skint. If you were skint then you would chase down your refunds.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

I’m puzzled why they didn’t call the sheriff and get his deputies to put you in the slammer.

means that he didn't have the right ticket (but he thinks that's OK because "normally" he would have had).

I can imagine a student doing this sort of thing, maybe even a permie, but a Contractor!

                  I blame the Credit Crunch.

Stop it! You're doing it deliberately.

When I was a student, I was caught out by the British Transport Police for not having the correct ticket (gf was staying in london for a few days, bought a 1 wk travelcard, and gave it to me to use for the last couple of days left. Apparently they're not transferrable).
They were quite happy with me giving the name address and postcode of the utter tw@t who'd been cheating on a friend of mine. I was quite happy too. Apparently they were going to send him a fine in the post.
