    Punish the lazy.

Go the car insurance renewal quote through £670. Effin' steep, I thought. Ten mins on the phone and a few "can I just check your details", and "Hmmmm"s later, it came down to £370. I then went on the same companys' website and entered my details, got it down to £250!! For exactly the same insurance.

So basically, 15 mins 'effort' saved me £420. How many people, I wonder, just accept the renewal quote because it means they don't have to do anything?

My house insurance was £750 down to £380 in a matter of 30 minutes.

And doing it on chargeable time saves even more.

        Blimey.

        You must live in Scumsville.

Here in Surrey, I pay £127 for contents on my 4-bed detatched.

Buildings and contents. I have some very expensive things and the wife has jewellery and watches that makes the Queen with envy.

          4-bed house?

Quite a lot which is why they have started, in the last few years, of doing the automatic renewal thing for almost everything nowadays - insurance, subscriptions etc.

Insurance companies each year plant a few stories in the papers about higher premiums for some reason or another. Uninsured drivers, crashes among the young, theft of something or another.

It's all rubbish. They just want to stiff you on your (automatic) renewal.

Saying that I just renewed my insurance, but only because I couldn't beat the renewal quote from Admiral.

Its based on the value of the house, check again... you may be in for a nice surprise.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
