Direct Line pull the same trick each year. Basically it is always cheaper to apply for a new policy with them online than to accept a renewal.

This year however I went with Privilege and got it even cheaper plus I get £70 quid back from Quidco. Net price is £158 fully comp

The funny thing is I'm pretty sure they are the same company. The forms and web site are virtually the same apart from the logos.

It's all rubbish. They just want to stiff you on your (automatic) renewal.

Saying that I just renewed my insurance, but only because I couldn't beat the renewal quote from Admiral.

Quite a lot which is why they have started, in the last few years, of doing the automatic renewal thing for almost everything nowadays - insurance, subscriptions etc.

Buildings and contents. I have some very expensive things and the wife has jewellery and watches that makes the Queen with envy.

    4-bed house?
